A Frank Angle Challenge

Frank, over at “A Frank Angle” has invited us to dance a challenge.

Here’s how it works!

“The She/He Challenge involves writing a story that bounces between the mind of two people. The twist is that I have written what is the man is thinking about her (She statements), so the challenge involves writing the woman’s thoughts (He statements about him). To increase the challenge, each sentence in the woman’s thoughts must begin with “He” to complement the “She” that starts each sentence in the original story.”

❦❦❦❦❦❦❦❦

She’s the one for the next dance.

He probably thinks I like his vintage tux and ruffled lime green shirt.

She displays a slight smile as I approach.

He swallows hard, & his clip-on bow tie falls off onto the dance floor.

She changes her face into a glow as I extend my hand.

He steps on his bow tie, as he takes my hand.

She graciously engages my offered frame.

He holds me too close, and the lime green ruffles irritate my decolletage.

She transforms my leads into beautiful motions.

He steps on my right foot!

She glides the floor with grace and elegance.

He steps on my left foot!

She makes me feel like the king of the ballroom.

He thinks he’s the king of the ballroom?

She smiles in appreciation as the music ends.

He tells me he’s decided to invest in another vintage tuxedo.

She is the one.

He is the two…. left feet!

“IF” A Frank Angle Challenge – by Resa

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

EACH “IF” LINE IN THIS POEM IS A TITLE TO A SONG.

If I can’t have you

Then it would be as

If 6 was 9

Upside down all the time

And

If It Wasn’t For The Nights-

When I could turn over and say

Let Me Dream If I Want To

 I’d keep hearing you say,

If you wear that velvet dress-

Once more, and I think

Damned If I Do

So wondering out loud I ask

“What If We Give It Away”?

If It Makes You Happy

That’s what we should do.

But darling

If You’re Ready (Come Go With Me)

Remember

If Music Could Talk

We’d dance until, eternity.

How Many Kisses

To the love of my life:

How many kisses do we have before

The clock rewinds

To a time when we are not here.

I want to cry

You see, perhaps I

I thought the kisses would

Never run out.

Now I know

There will never be enough.

Scattered Gold

First of a short series of poems inspired by 1920’s Sunnyside Bathing Pavilion.

A curved path

Its scattered gold

Seems like leaves, old

Dry, and come to ground

Before the stairs

Enticing me.

Between the trees

Tickets to climb

Are a need to buy

But empty is the seller’s chair.

Sublime? Not.

Yet, there is lots of

Scattered gold.

Your Lion Eyes

Dare you hide

clion-1

Your lion eyes?

They look at me, and

I’m not surprised

To see my soul bared, to

See my mind, as

Only humans hide

Behind lion eyes.

eyes-1

I can see

Your puppy eyes.

They look at me

Without disguise.

They share your heart

They share your mind, with

Veiled surprise, as

Only humans

Fake puppy eyes.

lion-1

Lions can’t hide

Their lion eyes

For they are pure, and

They are wise

They are old, and

They’ve spent time

Living behind their

Lion eyes.

When the Band Plays

14 Wednesday Sep 2016

Posted by Resa in Poetry, Uncategorized

It’s a different world when the band plays.

img_0951

Music melts through

One hundred year old wood floors

When the band plays.

When the band plays,

It permeates my home,

Saturates my bones,

And the singer is another

Instrument in

The band that plays downstairs.

img_1018

When the band plays the

Music seems forever.

So why does it end?

I want to hear the music

To the ends of threads, and

Through hundred year-old floors,

Through an eternity of souls,

Through a love letter’s woes.

Through my windows,

Through my doors enter

Into my pores

Into my blood then

Into heart.

Music,

Sweet music!

We shot at a decaying motel. Inside its frozen time moment, I thought:

2ndSix

Not asking where it went

Just want it back

Want it back

Not trying to resent

Just sittin’ slack

Sittin’ slack.

Feels like

Stasis.

Askin’ where it went

I’m gettiin’ mad

Gettin’ mad

Checking out behind

It’s kind of sad

Very sad.

Feels like

Stasis.

Frozen goin’ nowhere

That’s the thing as is

Frozen goin’ nowhere

Stasis; that

Is.

Can be like life is

After sex is

During war is

Greedy want is

Sayin’ stuff is

Playin’ tough is

Had enough of

Stasis.

Frozen goin’ nowhere

That’s the thing as is

Frozen goin’ nowhere

Stasis; that

Is.

I Got An Old Key

I got an old key

A silver not gold key

A made out of light key

It opens no doors key.

I got a white key

& I’m not afraid,

See, cause it’s such an

Old key

It ‘s a comfort to me.

Give up your new key!

Grab onto

What you see

Open life with

Your old key, &

Step into the light.

I want to be true,

Free, so I use a T-Key

A truth

Tight

Tell it like it is

Trite, & if that’s

What you see, then

Please use the key!

 Unlock your mores

No more effin stories

Tomorrow’s the future, &

The future’s the key.

Future

Best-dressed rap

Trap of words

Reverberating dreads with

Daily bread

And wine.

Vintage purple, it’s

Mint age’s deep cut

Staining, reigns

Large, and inside

Hell makes

No contrition for

Sin. Like the comedy

Of a color’s

Ambiguous groove cut

Into the earth by

A wheel of

Cheese, we say

It, then the

Pic is snapped, and

Passed into the

Future.

JOHNNY FARINA

Far in jar
Of a retina’s reflect
I answer you.
You called, I
Was not here, as
I was somewhere else.
I was in my
Mind, minding P’s &
Q’s, but please
Don’t confuse my intention
With my invention
Of imagined love, and
A special machine that
Manufactures dreams
Only you, and
I understand.
Being alone
Is a blessing when
I have cash at
Johnny Farina
Where at
The bar, my wine
Tastes of you.
